Before the meeting of the OSPAR Intersessional correspondence group on marine litter (ICG-ML), which was held from the 17th to the 20th of June in Antwerp (Belgium), an upstream workshop on riverine litter monitoring and prevention was organised on the 16th of June in Temse (Belgium). The main purpose of the workshop was to share best practices on riverine monitoring techniques for macro litter, source prevention, and clean up campaigns in order to develop future recommendations for riverine litter monitoring and prevention. The TREASURE team was also represented at this event and was able to share its experiences. Furthermore, sampling and monitoring activities around the river Scheldt were demonstrated at the end of the day.
