Insights on governance, collaboration, and BIM for turning circular economy policies into actionable projects

On 2 April 2026, the CircleBIM project contributed to the webinar “From policy ambition to manageable circular projects: Mind your Governance!”, organized within the KARMA Project.

The session focused on how local and regional authorities can translate ambitious circular economy and climate goals into concrete and feasible construction projects. Discussions highlighted the importance of governance structures, cross-departmental collaboration, and the use of data and digital tools such as Building Information Management (BIM).

During the webinar, our partners from Mechelen and Hamburg presented insights from CircleBIM, including experiences from pilot activities demonstrating how BIM can support decision-making, coordination, and the implementation of circular construction practices. The presentation also addressed common challenges such as fragmented responsibilities, siloed organizational structures, and limited administrative capacity.

The exchange provided practical examples and fostered discussion on how governance, collaboration, and data can help bridge the gap between policy ambition and implementation.
