Introduction of the BUILDERS Living Lab pilot within a major campus renovation project
On 24 March 2026, the launch event for the extension and renovation of the Normandy campus of BUILDERS School of Engineering took place in Caen, France. The event marked the official start of a two-year construction project supported by the Région Normandie and CCCA-BTP.
The initiative includes the Living Lab pilot site within the CircleBIM project, embedding circular construction approaches into a real-life educational infrastructure. The pilot will serve as a testing ground for integrating digital tools and circular strategies throughout the building lifecycle.
The renovation and extension works aim to modernize the campus while ensuring safe cohabitation between construction activities and ongoing educational use. Specific measures and guidelines have been put in place to guarantee safety during the construction phase.
This milestone represents an important step for CircleBIM in demonstrating how circularity can be applied in practice through collaboration between academic institutions and industry stakeholders.
