CircleBIM Consortium Meeting in Molde
Two productive days of collaboration, digital innovation, and practical planning in Norway
On 3–4 June 2025, the CircleBIM project consortium convened in Molde, Norway, for a dynamic two-day partner meeting hosted by Møre og Romsdal fylkeskommune. Partners from across seven North Sea Region countries gathered to strengthen collaboration, exchange best practices, and drive forward the project’s mission of integrating circularity into digital construction processes.
The meeting began with a warm welcome from hosts Andreas and Kristin, followed by a guest presentation from Advansia Consultancy. Their talk on digitalisation and circularity in the Norwegian construction sector included a live demonstration of a digital twin application for public buildings, showcasing how smart data environments and structured data models can support material reuse and evidence-based decision-making.
The two days featured intensive working sessions across the project’s work packages. Partners presented results from good practice exchanges, finalised elements of the CircleBIM framework, and discussed pilot implementation templates and monitoring indicators.
Special emphasis was placed on distinguishing between Local Circular Construction Platforms (LCCPs) (regional networks of stakeholders), and individual pilot projects, with both recognised as crucial for scaling circular practices in the built environment.
Interactive workshops on communication strategies, audience engagement, and a draft project icon concept rounded out the programme, led by the communication team. Informal exchanges between partners also contributed to a collaborative and productive atmosphere throughout the event.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Norway’s natural landscapes, the Molde meeting marked an important milestone for the CircleBIM project. It advanced both the technical and collaborative aspects of the initiative and laid out clear next steps for upcoming activities, including the next in-person partner meeting scheduled for December 2025 in Mechelen, Belgium.
The project continues to gain momentum, helping shape a more resource-efficient, digital, and sustainable construction sector across the North Sea Region.
