Connecting regulatory developments with low-carbon and circular construction.

On 5 February 2026, BUILDERS École d’Ingénieurs welcomed participants to its Caen campus for the first FIB–CERIB event of 2026. The breakfast seminar, organized by the French Federation of Precast Concrete Industries (FIB) and CERIB, focused on the evolution of the NF EN 206/CN concrete standard and its role in supporting the decarbonization of prefabricated concrete.

The event gathered industry professionals, technical experts, and research stakeholders to discuss how regulatory updates can help meet environmental objectives while ensuring performance, durability, and compliance. Exchanges highlighted the importance of aligning normative developments with innovation and sustainable construction practices.

Mohamed Boutouil, Deputy Director for Research and Education at BUILDERS École d’Ingénieurs and representative of the French CircleBIM pilot, presented how the evolution of EN206 connects with circular and data-driven approaches promoted within CircleBIM. His contribution underlined the role of standards, lifecycle thinking, and material optimization in reducing embodied carbon in construction projects.

BUILDERS thanks FIB, CERIB, the speakers, and all participants for the quality of discussions and their commitment to advancing sustainable construction.
