HCU event sparks interdisciplinary dialogue on sustainable digital building strategies
On 26 June 2025, HafenCity Universität Hamburg hosted the annual Dies Academicus event themed “Climate Impulses: Research. Teaching. Shaping the Future.” As part of the program, the CircleBIM workshop engaged participants in exploring how Building Information Management (BIM) can support circular, resource-efficient construction processes.
The session showcased the CircleBIM research project and its Hamburg pilot, “Ex-Karstadt-Harburg,” highlighting digital strategies for maximizing the reuse potential of building components and materials. The workshop fostered interdisciplinary discussions, addressing innovative teaching formats and digital management tools that can drive the transition toward circular construction.
This collaborative exchange emphasized the importance of integrating digital technologies and circular economy principles to shape a sustainable future for the built environment.
