The Pays de Lumbres Community of Municipalities (CCPL) has taken an important step towards more sustainable and inclusive mobility by launching a large-scale citizen consultation across the territory.
In response to changing lifestyles and growing environmental challenges, CCPL set out to co-create the mobility services of tomorrow together with its residents. Throughout the autumn, residents, users, elected officials and local associations were invited to share their experiences, needs and expectations related to daily travel.
Listening to Everyday Mobility Needs
The consultation focused on better understanding how people move around today and what they need to travel more easily and sustainably. A wide range of mobility topics were discussed, including:
- Cycling and walking
- Car use and carpooling
- Road safety
- Awareness-raising and mobility events
Every contribution helped build a clearer picture of local mobility habits and challenges, supporting the development of solutions that are simpler, more sustainable and better adapted to the Pays de Lumbres.
Strong Local Participation
In total, seven in-person consultation moments were organised across the territory, during the second half of November and the first half of December 2025. To ensure broad participation, residents were also able to contribute via an online questionnaire, allowing those unable to attend in person to make their voices heard.
This participatory approach reflects CCPL’s commitment to involving citizens directly in shaping future mobility policies and actions.
Getting around differently is possible in the Pays de Lumbres — and together, we are making it happen.
