On 12 December, the Energy Agency for Southern Sweden officially kicked off the Become a Test Commuter campaign at Diö station. Early-morning travellers were greeted with breakfast bags and friendly conversations about sustainable travel alternatives.

The campaign invites car commuters in Diö to apply for a free 30-day public transport pass, available from January 2026. With this initiative, the project aims to make it easier for residents to try out simpler, more cost-effective and climate-friendly commuting habits.

In addition to attracting new users, the campaign also seeks to activate existing public transport passengers as local ambassadors—encouraging them to inspire friends, neighbours and colleagues to consider shifting from car travel to collective modes of transport.

Local Activities in Diö

To reach as many residents as possible, several on-the-ground actions were organised:

  • Posters were displayed across the community, including at the local pizzeria, staff rooms in the care home and school, the Liatorp supermarket, the football field and various public notice boards.
  • Breakfast bags were handed out at Diö station to train and bus passengers, providing a valuable moment to discuss their daily travel routines and experiences.

The Test Commuter campaign is one of several measures rolling out in Diö and Ljungby over the coming year, all aimed at promoting sustainable mobility and reducing car dependency across the region.
