FLAX-CITY

Project description

It aims to use locally produced flax fibre reinforcements to develop new composite systems with reduced environmental impacts compared to existing semi-products. This products will be dedicated to urban uses, for example: bins, benches, bicycle or scooter parts, street panels….The North Sea area has been the main area in the world for the cultivation and marketing of flax fibres for several centuries, and it is obvious to build on this history and this strong identity to develop the composite materials of tomorrow. Prototypes of the recycling and high-performance flax-reinforced composite systems will be produced and validated and used by the cities and authorities involved in the project.
