Social learning and awareness raising about coastal change

Project description

The coastline is an increasingly attractive territory with growing urbanisation. But population and infrastructures are subject to coastal risks: erosion, marine submersion, flooding, rising water tables and salinisation, amplified by the effects of climate change. Territorial development issues are raised for the exposed populations (land use, infrastructures, quality of life, etc.). In order to guide citizens towards awareness of coastal risks, new approaches to awareness raising and education must be invested. The objective is to facilitate the emergence of a territorial narrative of coastal recomposition, to make the citizen an actor in the construction of the resilience of coastal territories through innovative approaches : engaging awareness measures, co-constructed strategies, and appropriation of knowledge necessary for the sustainable management of the coastline. The project proposes to explore and pool these different approaches through participatory action research.
