Water and climate adapted green streets

Project description

Whilst cities now have climate adaptation strategies, implementation remains challenging, particularly due to the complexity of coordinating action amongst many different organisations. In this project we aim to develop and test mechanisms to overcome this collective action challenge through pilot investments in climate adaptation. We will focus on street renovations to tackle flooding, drought, and heat stress through nature based solutions and smart technologies. These provide manageable case studies through which various critical challenges can be understood and overcome whilst delivering tangible impact.

The project aims to result in:

  • More effective delivery of climate adaptation strategies to achieve climate adaptation targets
  • Integrated planning and implementation – demonstrating different combinations of intervention to inform best practices
  • New tools and approaches, building on results of past Interreg programmes and outputs.
