Call 5 gives the majority of regular Interreg North Sea projects the opportunity to include new Norwegian partners or expand activities in Norway. Projects with an end date, as of today, on 1 July 2026 or later are eligible to apply.
The fifth call in the 2021-2027 North Sea Programme is open for submissions. You can start working on your application in the Online Monitoring System.
Please note that this call is restricted - learn more below.
Special conditions in Call 5
Call 5 is dedicated to Norwegian funding only. It is therefore restricted to expanding Norwegian partners or activities within ongoing Interreg North Sea projects.
Different conditions apply depending on your project's end date - please see below.
The application process
Since Call 5 applies exclusively to Norwegian funding, it is restricted to Norway and Norwegian partners. It is open only for ongoing, regular Interreg North Sea projects.
For the purpose of this call, the projects have been divided into three eligibility groups:
Projects in Group 1 have end dates before 1 July 2026 and are not eligible for this call.
Projects in Group 2 have end dates between 1 July 2026 and 31 December 2026. Group 2 projects qualify for additional Norwegian partners/funding to carry out ‘soft’ activities, such as capitalisation, communication and citizen engagement. It is of vital importance that these activities benefit the partnership as a whole, for example through knowledge transfer and mutual learning.
Projects in Group 3 have end dates from 1 January 2027 onwards. Group 3 projects qualify for additional Norwegian partners/funding to carry out any types of activities.
Note: The end dates mentioned above are the dates that are valid as of the Call 5 launch date, 1 May 2025.
The co-funding rate for Norwegian funding in Interreg North Sea projects is 50%.
The Online Monitoring System will allow submissions through 12:00 (noon) CET on 11 July 2025.
