We have teamed up with Interact to support project capitalisation among the wider Interreg community of programmes. We will share our TakeUP concept with other Interreg programmes at a live event in Munich next week.
On 3-4 February 2026, Interact and the North Sea Programme are jointly organising an event called TakeUP Transfer.
The event will not only equip five other Interreg programmes - Atlantic Area, Germany-Denmark, France-Italy Maritime, Central Baltic and South Baltic - to adopt and apply our TakeUP approach to helping projects boost their impacts. It will also enable Interact to host future TakeUP Transfer events for additional Interreg programmes.
As part of this, over 40 representatives of projects supported by the participating programmes will join a one-day TakeUP workshop. This enables Interact and the programmes to experience the full TakeUP playbook.
Reaching for the North Star together
In 2023, we organised the first TakeUP workshop supporting projects to focus on capitalisation - transfer and uptake of their work beyond the project's own scope - from an early stage. We presented capitalisation as a journey where the project teams are travelling together towards the North Star (their main expected impacts), equipped with 7 essentials that represent practical approaches to capitalisation.
Since then, nearly all our projects have attended a TakeUP workshop. Based on their enthusiasm and cool initiatives to put the learning into action, we have taken steps to reinforce their efforts, for example through thematic roundtables.
Meanwhile, other Interreg programmes have begun to show interest in the TakeUP approach. That is why we are now handing this body of work over to Interact, who will take it up and spread it to more programmes. Quite in the spirit of TakeUP and capitalisation!

We have often been inspired by Interact and by other Interreg programmes that have freely shared their tips and ideas with us. Sharing and mutual learning is an invaluable aspect of cooperating across borders, as every North Sea project partner will agree.
And now it is our turn to pay it forward. We are honoured by the interest shown by Interact and other programmes, and are working hard to ensure that the event will be useful, fun and inspiring for all involved.
A huge thank you to Interact for hosting the event and investing resources in promoting TakeUP to more programmes. And a heartfelt thanks to our projects who constantly surprise and inspire us with new creative ways of reaching out to their 'takers' and boosting their long-term success.
We are looking very much forward to meeting everyone and spending two productive days together in Munich!
