SUSTAIN-3D (Supporting SME Transformation within 3DP )

Project description

We have identified a certain willingness of companies to invest in additive manufacturing machinery (3D Printers) and other technologies related to this. But the companies are not gaining the expected outcomes: Machines aren't utilized to the full potential and as production grade machines are expensive the companies are hesitant to invest in the machines they need and implementation on the production- and management floor is not optimal.

This problem is identified in local company networks and best illustrated by the average deployment of already installed machinery like metal 3D-printers of below 3%.

Preliminary studies of the problem points to complex causes like:

  • lack of skilled workers (digital skill)
  • challenges in day-to-day implementation/uptake
  • lack of innovators
  • lack of the ability to share machinery across companies and educational institutions (infrastructure)

The goal is to create recommendations for actions to local stakeholders in the regions attending the project.

Confirmed partners

  • Region Halland (pending)
  • Aalborg University (pending)

Partners we are looking for

We are looking for regional partners in the North Sea Region with focus on technology sharing in close collaboration with SMEs:

  • Educational institutions
  • Clusters
  • Business and regional development agencies
  • Municipalities and regions

Existing triple-helix partners (public, private, education) within the area of interest is preferred.

Project type: Small Scale

Deadline: 14.11.2022
